Does Microsoft offer CD-ROM versions of their "setup" software for installing an operating system on a new hard drive? I know they have these for floppy disk installation ( http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=9880 ) but no one sells those anymore! Thanks for any information!
you might be able to create a bootable CD from the files in that link
google "El Torito Bootable CD" for details

There are ISO images available to burn and they do boot too.

I eventually booted with a floppy , but I think the Dell site has the proper software to do this with a CD-ROM here: http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/DriverFileFormats?c=&s=&cs=&l=&DriverId=r146318 in case anyone else needs to do this ( I haven't downloaded and tried this yet though ( the download is something like 500 mb + :eek ). I have finally moved to XP from ME but my hardware is 64-bit , is it worth getting Windows XP 64 or is the performance of XP 32 about the same? Thanks for any input...
