i looked around for a troubleshooting guide - no luck

have you tried disconnecting the home-theatre box from the audio outputs ?
it may be that the internal speakers are muted automatically if something is connected
and - as anunitu suggested - make sure nothing is in the headphone/earphone jack

otherwise...
i think what i would try is go into the menu and find the "return to factory settings" button
i would go through the entire initial start-up setting thing - scan for channels - all that

Thanks a lot.

Disconnecting the audio outputs from the TV and re-scanning the AV inputs fixed the sound.
