I used the Microsoft IE, Firefox, K-meleon and now Opera and am still not happy.
Operas email is not to my liking.
I hate the tab function. I tried K-meleon several times but had so much trouble with
the bookmarks I went to something else. Been awhile since I tried K-meleon so have
they fixed the bookmarks or what? I think I would rather have this browser than
the others I have tried if the bookmarks are fixed.
Maybe it's me missing something with the bookmarks.

Yea, the old fuddy-duddy messed up again. K-melion has an addon that
handles bookmarks . Maybe this will solve the problem

use thunderbird for mail, it's the best. If you install google chrome make sure to find and delete googleupdater.exe because it runs auto start, and chrome will restart it when it's ran. In the past the dumb thing remained installed even after removing chrome which is very shady on googles part.

I just downloaded new version of safari, and they definitely completely copyed google chromes GUI, how funny and sad apple is.

Thanks guys for your comments.
Since I had Opera on my puter I had to hand code my bookmarks into K-meleon.
Couldn't find any other way to do it and I spent hours trying.
K-meleon seems very powerful and I will spend months getting used to it.
Yes I will probably have to reinstall TB. Opera email is the pits.
Then bye bye Opera.

Opera is still an infant
it needs a lot of work - features added/improved and a few bugs fixed
i will say this - it is fast - when it becomes more mature, it will probably be a nice browser

ecube

dedndave  the funny thing is opera is definitely the oldest of the browsers, and it usually leads the way in new features. For instance it had tabbed browsing long before firefox even existed, it also has various other things currently no other browser has, like built in bittorent support. The reason it never got that popular was because when it first came out is was a commerical browser and I don't, its GUI is abit weird to me. I also hate how many things they change for each release, people like their habits and routines, with things situated. The CEO of opera is also a douche imo, that's why I don't use opera.

The new TB 3.03 is very nice IMHO. If I am not mistaken it now handles multiple identities
with separate Inbox, Sent and Outbox for each identity. (have to keep wiffie happy).
You bachelors wouldn't know about that. Now there is no excuse for using outlook express
or windows mail. What an improvement over Opera.
It also surprised me with a setup procedure that handled the setup from scratch.
Very nice.

I've never been to the Opera, its not my kind of singing. Chrome? Isn't that what they use to put on car bumpers? :bg

Still trying to get rid of Opera.
Deleted it out of the Program Files and the next time I look it is back in there.
I uninstalled and did a search on it and deleted everything but the following:

windows/winsxs/x86_netfix_aspect_ (there is more but I couldn't read it)

There are dozens of these and I doubt they are safe to delete. Am I wrong?
I just hate it when vendors do this kind of crap.

wellllll - if you deleted the files from the Program Files folder, you probably deleted the uninstall info
no - the winsxs stuff is side by side - leave that be

Thanks for answering Dedndave.
My usual procedure to get rid of annoyances is to 1st uninstall.
Then do a search of the title and delete everything I find.
If they don't delete I then go into safe mode and get rid of them that way.
If I still have trouble deleting then there is always DOS.
Not so with Opera.
Something is still on my puter. There is no Opera6.ini as I searched for it.

i also find some opera files in these locations

C:\Documents and Settings\[UserAccount]\Application Data\Opera
C:\Documents and Settings\[UserAccount]\Local Settings\Application Data\Opera

i am guessing it may have installed some DLL's in the system32 folder that were not removed/unregistered
you might be able to try and get the same version you had and re-installing it to see what gets installed and where

i have googled around a bit and i don't see anyone else having troubles removing opera
how do the problems manifest themselves ?

maybe these pages will be of some help

I love K-meleon,but am starting to run into sites that stop loading and say I need a newer browser. Flash(the newest one) wont install on win2000,and that also comes up on sites. Some sites take forecver to load because of all the extra flash and dash, and that on high speed cable.
